With approximately 2.5 lakh auto-rickshaws zipping through the city, they remain the lifeline for Amdavadis, offering affordable and accessible transport. However, many of these autos operate without functioning meters, charging passengers arbitrary fares.

In light of this, the city police have embarked on a transformative initiative: installing QR codes on every auto to standardise fares and bolster passenger security. This measure, part of the Nirbhaya Initiative, aims to empower commuters, particularly women travelling late at night, to make informed decisions about their safety.
