City police chief forms task force to curb rising crimes

City Police Chief GS Malik has formed a 13-member task force to curb the surge in serious crimes in the city. The task force will look at implementing and using various technologies under the Nirbhaya Scheme to curb the surge in crimes.

City police officials and personnel have already been mandated to download the Nirbhaya application from the iOS and Play Store on their phones. Three circulars have also been issued to all police establishments in this regard. The circulars have specified that the SHE team of the city police should visit vulnerable senior citizens and others living in isolated areas to ensure they have the app installed on their phones. This will allow them to report emergencies or crimes to the newly established control room at the new CP office.
