The recent rains that soaked the state for days on end have left a trail of misery in their wake. Citizens are battling high fevers and a slew of illnesses, including dengue, malaria, typhoid, jaundice, and various other viral and bacterial infections.
City hospitals are witnessing a surge in dengue and chikungunya cases across all age groups, from the young to the elderly. This is compounded by a rise in malaria and other viral infections.
EMRI-108 data reports 30% surge in fever cases
According to EMRI-108 data, while Gujarat saw a 15% increase in high fever cases this July and August compared to last year, Ahmedabad experienced almost a 30% surge.
In July and August 2023, Gujarat registered 12,987 high fever cases. This number jumped to 14,945 for the same months this year, indicating a 15.08% increase.
