The Gujarat education department is reportedly consulting the state health department to issue advisories and protocols in response to the detection of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) in the state. This comes after Ahmedabad reported a case involving a two-month-old infant. In anticipation, city schools are implementing precautionary measures to curb potential outbreaks.
Schools are actively communicating with parents, advising them not to send children to school if they exhibit any symptoms of HMPV. Some institutions have set up isolated classrooms and engaged nurses to screen and monitor students for signs of illness.
