With the festival of lights here, the brightness will be as good and the spirit equally high. How about celebrating Diwali in a more sustainable way?

Have a Meaning-Full Diwali

The days we all look forward to are finally here…bright lights and rangoli, sweets and elaborate snacks, gatherings and parties. Families will meet with loved ones and spend time together, celebrating the spirit of the festival, besides enjoying get-togethers and holidays with their favourite bunch. And while all this begins full-fledgedly, let’s aim to have a sustainable Diwali that includes certain mindful practices. Here are ideas you could practice to make this festive week a more meaningful one.

Avoid throwing waste in haste

While your own home is clean, decorated and spotless, it carries no meaning in the larger scheme of things if your surroundings are dirty, like for example, your society garbage accumulation area. Ensure your surroundings are equally clean, and more importantly, once the crackers have been burst, how about organising a clean-up drive in your society or community group post celebration and festivities? As an aware and alert citizen, you could ensure systematic and proper disposal and recycling of waste that will be generated during celebration days.

Decorate eco-stylishly
