Specialist underwater search teams found the body - thought to be that of the missing youth - yesterday afternoon at Burnside Lakes in Cherry Hinton, just outside Cambridge.
The teenager, from Essex, reportedly got into difficulty while he was swimming with some friends on Monday afternoon.
Cambridgeshire Police said they were called by the ambulance service at 5.26pm with concerns for a teenager in the water.
Britain had its hottest day of the year so far on Monday when a temperature of 34.8C (94.6F) was recorded in Cambridge.
