
Zach Michaels, 15, was riding home from his gran's house.
His mother Maria Michaels, 43, claimed the car was going at 70mph and said Zach was left in a "heap" on the ground.
He is now expected to spend a year recovering after suffering a fractured spine and a punctured lung and undergoing an above-the-knee amputation on his right leg.
Maria, a nurse from Liverpool, said: "Zach is an amazingly brave boy. It's going to be a really long time before he'll be discharged from hospital.
