‘We need politicians, on all sides, to care more about older people's outcomes’

Don't dare ignore the views of 13m-strong army of older voters!

THE country's growing army of older voters has warned politicians to give their needs immediate attention after the General Election with a voice at the heart of government.

It comes as new statistics show that by the end of the next parliament in 2029 there will be 14.6 million people aged 65-plus in the UK - an 11% increase on 13.2 million today.

Campaigners are calling for a minister for older people in government and a commissioner for older people and ageing, independent of government but equipped with powers to hold it to account.

Both positions should be created as soon as the new administration is formed after the election, they say.
