Obsessed Gavin Harper suspected Stephanie Glynn was cheating on him and put tracking devices on her car, a court heard.
Harper later found Ms Glynn and her lover, married Merseyside Police acting inspector Andrew McLullich, in a car at a Screwfix branch and a fight broke out.
Dad-of-two Harper was cleared of wounding after a two-week trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

But the 45-year-old was convicted of stalking with intent to cause serious alarm or distress to Ms Glynn.
However, Judge David Potter criticised all the parties over the incident in Birkenhead, Wirral, during Covid lockdowns in February 2021.
