Flash Gordon could have the last laugh on Gareth after his fall from grace

ANTHONY GORDON'S last significant contribution to Gareth Southgate's England tenure was to crash his electric bicycle at speed while making a video of himself.

Flash Gordon could have the last laugh on Gareth after his fall from grace

Oh, and then have a good laugh about it while also suggesting England, under former manager Southgate, were a bit predictable.

If they had ever been on - and, bear in mind, he had only played for five minutes of the campaign at that point the wheels came off Gordon's European Championship after he went head first from his bike into a gag-a-minute media appearance.

Southgate liked the odd laugh but, presumably, did not take kindly to a spot of slapstick mid-tournament.

If Southgate's departure was good for any English player's international prospects, Gordon might have been that player, although it has to be remembered he was selected for the Euros ahead of the likes of Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford - in the first place.
