Kids given music investment to tune of £101m

Rolled out by Arts Council England for the Department for Education, 43 national hubs will help deliver musical activities, equipment and teacher training to young people.

The scheme will also partner with prestigious organisations such as the London Symphony Orchestra.

The move is a huge boost to the Daily Express's Strike A Chord crusade to save the nation's failing music education while the hubs will be an addition to a previous government pledge for all pupils "to participate in music".

The hotspots will form part of the Arts Council England 10-year Let's Create strategy, which aims to unlock creativity across the country regardless of people's background, circumstances and location.

They will provide the impetus to ensure the Government's national plan for "high quality" music education is delivered.
