Move follows head's death after school downgraded

OFSTED judgments that use single words are being axed with immediate effect.

The education watchdog has traditionally classed schools as "outstanding", "good", "requires improvement" or "inadequate".

But the Government said the headline findings do not provide a fair and accurate assessment of a school's overall performance.

The move comes after a headteacher took her own life following a bad review.

Education Bridget Phillipson said the removal of headline grades was a "landmark moment".
