A PILOT who crash-landed into woodland as he steered his stricken plane away from a built-up area said he will be "forever grateful" for the emergency services that saved his life.
Father-of-two Mike Aubrey reached 300ft when the light aircraft's engine stopped and would not restart.
He made a split-second decision to head for woods away from electricity pylons, an industrial estate and a busy road. It hit the ground after smashing through trees and it was "remarkable" he survived, his wife Jo said.
