Nick Adderley, 57, was yesterday found guilty of gross misconduct by exaggerating his rank, length of service and achievements when he applied to be Chief Constable of Northamptonshire Police in 2018.
He even wore a South Atlantic Medal, awarded to British military personnel and civilians for service in the Falklands War - though the conflict broke out when he was just 15.
A Ministry of Defence expert told disciplinary panel he "110%" sure the medal was a fake.
