Saunders: I was forced to remove Ab Fab lines

JENNIFER Saunders has revealed she was forced to remove parts of her Absolutely Fabulous scripts by TV bosses - but admits even the lines that survived would be too controversial to broadcast now.

The comedy star, 66, said some of the characters' comments which did make it into the show were "insulting" and contained "venom", and would be heavily attacked now on social media.

But co-star Julia Sawalha, who played Saffie in the series, revealed that "someone was reining us in" and some lines did get axed.

The duo joined fellow Ab Fab favourite Dame Joanna Lumley for a radio documentary reunion of the TV comedy's cast.

Julia and Joanna both told the documentary how they were shocked by some of the lines in writer Jennifer's scripts that did get aired.
