The cycling superstar said he was "floored" by the unexpected news, adding: "I never thought I would ever feel joy or happiness." In September 2023, Sir Chris was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer.
Last month, he reported that his condition was terminal and he had been given between two and four years to live.
The six-time Olympic gold medallist, 48, insisted he has managed to find "hope" - a position he did not think he'd be in six months ago.
Sir Chris described getting the diagnosis as the "news nobody ever wants to hear".
He added: "It was absolutely horrific, there are no two ways about it.
