Murray reveals his seven-year-old daughter doesn't hug him at school gates because I'm only 39th in tennis or something'

HE is a double Wimbledon and Olympic champion and a former world No 1.

But Andy Murray has revealed his eldest daughter is just like any other child and is "embarrassed" to be picked up by her father from school.

Murray fought back tears at the Rothesay Open in Nottingham last month when he learned his young family were in the crowd to see him win a title for the first time. He then revealed Sophia, Edi, Teddy and Lola were more interested in going to McDonald's.

And speaking before his 15th Wimbledon - and the 10th anniversary of his first men's title here - the dad of four admitted Sophia, seven, is less than impressed with her father being a knight of the realm and British sporting icon. "My eldest daughter is aware now of what I do but I don't think she really sees it as a good thing," he laughed. "I think she gets more embarrassed by it, to be honest.

"We went to pick her up from school on Friday and she will never properly acknowledge me at the school gates or around the other kids at school.
