Evans claimed his best Davis Cup win as he beat world No.12 Alex De Minaur – the highest-ranked player in the group – 6-1 2-6 6-4.
And it was a win that sealed Britain’s glory after Draper had a dream debut.
He beat Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-7 6-3 7-6 in front of a jubilant 9,000-strong crowd at the AO Arena in Manchester.
Draper’s run to the fourth round of the US Open earned him not just a second Britain call-up – but also a first appearance.
Leon Smith picked him ahead of his top-ranked player Cameron Norrie and former world number one Andy Murray (above).
And the 21-year-old fully justified his captain’s faith.
