ALAN SHEARER insists Manchester United's top priority in the January transfer window should be a world-class striker - but warns the entire squad needs an overhaul.
United host Shearer's former club Newcastle with Ruben Amorim's side languishing in the lower half of the Premier League, after four defeats in their last five league games.
With Marcus Rashford exiled by Amorim and Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to score, former England star Shearer said signing a goalscorer is a must for United when the window opens.
With little money to spend, United's options are limited.
The club needs to sell to raise funds to buy, although Shearer reckons the entire team requires a rebuild, not just up front.
"Where do you start?" said Shearer, a Betfair ambassador. "Without doubt, United need a top striker, I've made my feelings clear on that for a long time.
"They could go out and spend a load of money on Viktor Gyokeres (main picture), Amorim obviously knows him well. He said that he wouldn't go back to Sporting to take players out, but that may change. Ultimately, they need players all over the park.
