HIS distinctive cry of "se-verrn" has gone down in entertainment history, but the joy Len Goodman brought to millions of Strictly fans was always a perfect 10.
And last night fellow judges, pro dancers and celebrity contestants lined up to pay tribute to the ballroom legend after he lost a battle with bonecancer at the age of 78.
Many recalled warmly Len's love of colourful phrases, which included classic such as "pickle me walnuts" and "it's a 10 from Len" when he a performance really impressed him.
The former East End barrow boy died at a hospice in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, surrounded by his family.
His agent said: "It is with great sadness we announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78.
"A much-loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him." Avid Strictly fan the Queen Consort led tributes to Len.
Camilla, who shared a dance with him in September 2019 as part of the British Dance Council's 90th anniversary celebrations at London's Victory Services Club, said she was "saddened" by his death.
Dance judge Bruno Tonioli, who worked with Len on both the UK and American version of Strictly, wrote: "Heartbroken my dear friend and partner for 19 years, the one and only ballroom legend Len Goodman, passed away.
"I will treasure the memory of our incredible adventures and hundreds of shows. There will never be anyone like you. We will miss you." Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood added: "Len Goody Goodman is what I always called him and 'It's a 10 from Len' and 'seveeeeern' will live with me forever. RIP Len.
Former judge Darcey Bussell said news of Len's death was "very said".
