Sunak 'not taking China threat seriously' after researcher held

RISHI Sunak has been accused of ignoring the security threat from China after a Commons researcher was accused of spying for Beijing.

The PM spoke to Chinese Premier Li Qiang at a gathering of world leaders in India yesterday following reports of two arrests in the UK.

Mr Sunak said he had raised his "very strong concerns about any interference in our parliamentary democracy".

But his response has been criticised as inadequate by Labour.

It had emerged that two men - one with links to senior Tory MPs including Security Minister Tom Tugendhat and Foreign Affairs Committee chair Alicia Kearns were arrested under the Official Secrets Act earlier this year.
