SAGA seeks to pen a new chapter of Royal Ascot history when he takes on 15 opponents for the Listed Wolferton Stakes this afternoon

Frankie Dettori will don the famous silks of King Charles III and Queen Camilla to partner the couple's first runner at the five-day fixture founded by Queen Anne in 1711.

Last June, the John and Thady Gosden-trained four-year-old flew home in the Britannia Handicap to come within a head of giving the late Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September at the age of 96, a 25th Royal Ascot victory.

It was 80 years ago in 1953 when the Daily Mirror's correspondent reported: "The Queen's Choir Boy made it a really ROYAL Ascot yesterday.

"Ridden by Doug Smith, the colt won the Royal Hunt Cup at 100-6, to the delighted cheers of thousands of racegoers."
