Ministers in plan to wipe slate clean

MINISTERS last night finally pledged to clear the names of the Post Office workers devastated by the Horizon scandal.

Up to 900 sub-postmasters were wrongly convicted after the faulty IT system made it look like money had gone missing.

So far just 93 have had convictions quashed, including one jubilant group in 2021.

But the Government yesterday announced it far was making plans to fast track the appeals process.

Post Office Minister Kevin Hollinrake told MPs that Justice Secretary Alex Chalk will consult with senior judges before putting forward the changes. He said: "We have devised some options for resolving the outstanding criminal convictions with much more pace.
