Bad blood leads to new Taylor-Catterall spat

AT EACH OTHER'S THROATS

JOSH TAYLOR and Jack Catterall have been at each other’s throats online for the past two years.

They were at it for real when the pair collided in Edinburgh yesterday to announce their long-awaited rematch on April 27 in Leeds.

Boxing promoters love to set up a phoney war to drum up interest in their fights. But this is a contest that doesn’t need to be turned into some kiddy-on grudge match.

The Intercontinental Hotel featured so much bad blood they’ll probably need to clean the carpets.

Taylor and Catterall traded insults and then had to be held apart when they posed for the head-to-head pics in front of a lively local audience.

Catterall grabbed the Scot by the throat but was then shoved back so far the Englishman nearly went off the end of the stage.

If it was feisty before the pair clashed in 2022 – we’re heading to another level.

Taylor was planning to play it cool before the red mist descended. Beforehand he said: “I’m calm. I never go into a fight emotionally attached. It’s business for me.”

But 10 minutes later he jabbed with a series of insults before it call kicked off. Taylor said: “I don’t hate anyone – I just don’t like this guy and I can’t wait to smash his brains in. What little brains he’s got.
