A LEADING SNP MP has urged his colleagues to back the party's gender reforms or stand as independent candidates.
Alyn Smith issued the ultimatum despite dodging questions on whether trans people convicted of sex crimes should be put in female jails.
The MP, whose constituency includes Cornton Vale prison, said he had "nothing to say" on the issue.
Smith, a supporter of Scots Government legislation making it easier to legally change gender, also took a swipe at internal critics of the Bill.
