THEO BAIR thanked Stuart Kettlewell for the vote of confidence that could transform Motherwell's season and the striker's career in Scotland.

Bair's brilliant brace helped bring a barren run of 15 games without a win for the Steelmen to a stunning halt.

The much-maligned frontman set up Blair Spittal for the opening goal then kept his cool to net when sent clear through on keeper Shamal George.

If that level of composure was a rare sight in Bair's previously unremarkable Premiership life, then the clinching goal was a class apart.

The Canadian's chop inside from the right floored Lions skipper Mikey Devlin and his audacious chip from an awkward angle then caught out George.

The confidence and quality on show appeared the work of a forward at the top of his game.

Yet Bair, who scored once in 38 appearances for St Johnstone, is accustomed to being berated.

There were no tears shed when Steven MacLean released him at the end of last season after 18 months in Perth.
