ANDY MURRAY will undergo back surgery today in a late bid to be fit for a farewell appearance at Wimbledon.

The Scot, 37, limped out of the cinch Championships on Wednesday with "neural pain" in his back which caused a "loss of coordination".

And after analysing scans yesterday, Murray has now decided to undergo a "procedure" to enable him to appear at his home Grand Slam Wimbledon starts on July 1.

A statement from his management company said: "Andy is having a procedure on his back tomorrow. We will know more after this has taken place and will update further as soon as possible."

The world No.129 admitted he did not know if he would be fit for SW19 after retiring after only 23 minutes against Jordan Thompson.

After the match, he said: "I have been struggling with my back for a while. But I have never had that loss of coordination, loss of control and strength in the leg before.
