A court heard he bought her a bracelet, gave her regular cuddles, and asked her to call him "Papa Bear".
The 60-year-old, from Forfar, who was cleared to work with youngsters at Auchterarder Parish Church, befriended the girl at youth group sessions where he volunteered.
