A VICTIM of sex attack lawyer John Watt QC has spoken out for the first time to slam legal pals who failed to report him to the police.

Mark Redwood-Thomson, 46, has bravely waived his right to anonymity to speak out about the abuse by high-flying lawyer Watt that shattered his childhood.

Former prosecutor Watt was jailed for 10 years for sexually abusing four young children more than four decades ago - allegedly as part of a "magic circle" of paedohiles working in the justice system.

During Watt's trial last summer, the High Court in Glasgow heard the father of two of Watt's victims had reported abuse to other senior lawyers some years before Mark was abused.

But the court heard that the police were never informed.

Mark was raped by Watt some years later, before his 9th birthday and believes he could have escaped the abuse if the police had been alerted earlier.

He said: "It's diabolical. It sounds like they've hidden it rather than taking it to the police or whatever.

"That is appalling. There's no excuse for that."

Mark was interviewed in a BBC Scotland Disclosure investigation, Beneath the Magic Circle Affair, to be broadcast tonight.

It examines whether a "magic circle" of Edinburgh high-flyers were involved in a paedophile ring in the 70s and 80s.

Mark, who now lives in South Africa with his husband, has never spoken in public about his ordeal, which involved a massive breach of trust.
