Urgent action call to stem rising tide of violence by pupils

A RISE in violence in schools has seen massive payouts for teachers assaulted by pupils.

One teacher was seriously injured when attacked in the classroom and was awarded £180,000 in compensation.

Today the country's largest teaching union, the EIS, has called for health and safety to be a priority to ensure a secure environment for staff and pupils.
