COUNTING DOWN TO A TORY MP WIPEOUT

WIPING out the Tories is not a conundrum for Countdown legend Carol Vorderman she wants Scots to ensure their days are numbered.

She said she hoped Douglas Ross's party would lose their seats in the General Election as part of her UK-wide drive to turn the Tories into "rubble".

The TV star turned campaigner said the Conservative Party needed to be punished over economic failure, PPE profiteering and Partygate.

She added: "They just lie and lie and gaslight." The broadcaster, who was central to the Channel 4 show for more than 20 years, is now a high-profile political activist.

She is a key backer of stopthetories.vote, a group set up to promote tactical voting to get rid of Conservative MPs on July 4.

Their website offers voters the chance to find the best option for ensuring a Tory candidate does not get elected.

The Record has backed a Labour vote but we have also urged Scots to support the SNP in Tory-leaning seats in the north-east and the south of the country.

In an exclusive interview Vorderman said she wants the Tories to be punished for their record over the last 14 years.

She said: "It's not just tactical voting, It is coordinated tactical voting. That's what Stop The Tories is."

Asked if her call for the Conservatives to be eviscerated at Westminster extended to Scottish Tories, she said: "If they want to affect Westminster, then absolutely, yes. That would be quite something" "I'm a Welsh woman," she added.

"They're certainly going to get chucked out of Wales." Asked for her message to Scots who are considering voting tactically, she said: "I would say go on the website and you will see.
