CUTTING IT FINE

BOB MACINTYRE admits a marathon trip down 18 was a blessing - as he holed a par putt to keep his Ryder Cup fate in his own hands.

The 27-year-old Scot got up and down on the last at Cranssur-Sierre in Switzerland to make the European Masters cut right on the number.

A one-under 69, which leaves him tied 62nd on three under, means he remains the man to catch in the final automatic spot on the European points list for Rome, which will be nailed down tomorrow after the event.

But MacIntyre didn't half give the watching public a fright as playing partner Adrian Meronk eyed up just the second 59 in DP World Tour history in his bid to nab the berth in Luke Donald's team.

The Pole three-putted the 17th and carded a double bogey on the last as he slipped to a 64 to sit tied fifth on nine under, three off leader Matt Fitzpatrick (65).
