
THE family of a couple who died in a horror smash with a lorry are "devastated" after the driver dodged jail.
David Scott, 33, failed to spot Mohammed and Shamim Rashid as they sat in queuing traffic on a slip road near Bellshill, Lanarkshire.
His road sweeper ploughed into the back of their BMW, forcing it to collide with another car, in August 2022.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court, Scott, of Blackwood, admitted causing death by careless driving.
Sheriff John Speir gave him 200 hours of unpaid work, tagged him for six months, put him under supervision for a year and banned him from driving for five years.
But the Rashid family are shattered by the sentence.
One wrote online: "Not enough justice for my parents.
