A DEVASTATED dog owner has called for tighter safety at Scots kennels after her pet was killed in a fire.

Julie Louden is campaigning for mandatory sprinklers and smoke alarms at boarding kennels after her dog, Monty, was killed in a blaze on June 3.

The 40-year-old had boarded the Westiepoo, two, at Kirkland K9 in Renfrewshire while she visited family. But the mum of one was horrified when she received a call from the kennel owners to tell her Monty was dead.

Julie, from Glasgow's south side, said: "It was devastating. I don't think I took it in for a while.
