MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on a £60million deal with Chelsea for Mason Mount.

United saw a second bid worth up to £50m rejected yesterday by Chelsea, who have been holding out for closer to £70m for the England midfield star.

But following further talks between the two clubs, a compromise is close to being reached that will see Mount move to Old Trafford.

The attacking midfielder has told Chelsea he wants to join United and has no interest in remaining at Stamford Bridge.

Mount has just 12 months left on his current Blues deal – and despite insisting they will not be held to ransom over the fee, United are ready to go to £60m for the 24-year-old to finally get the deal over the line.

It’s understood Mount has agreed personal terms with United that will see him sign a five-year-deal worth around £200,000-aweek.

Old Trafford boss Erik the Hag wants the Mount deal completed in time for him to join the rest of the squad on the pre-season tour of America next month.
