GRANT FORREST reckons a brush with the law can boost his US Open bid.

The Scot heads to Pinehurst looking for a Major performance on his tournament debut.

Forrest joins Bob MacIntyre flying the flag for Scotland having come through qualifying last month at Walton Heath.

Headlines from the last Major dramatically centred around Scottie Scheffler being led away in handcuffs during the USPGA Championship at Valhalla.

The road-traf f ic incident temporarily put the brakes on the world No.1’s remarkable season – but Forrest is having a more positive experience with the law going into the 124th US Open.

The 30-year-old is in the right mindset for the challenge having had helpful talks with figures outside of the game.

Forrest lifted the lid on talking to various figures away from the sport to aid his approach as he said: “I like just speaking to successful people outside of golf because the mentality is generally the same.
