SCOTS need cash support from government to be trebled to £1billion a year to speed up the replacement of gas boilers with clean home heating, a report has claimed.

The study by IPPR Scotland warned that without a major funding boost, the country risks missing its net zero targets - with slashing emissions from domestic heating a key element of the national plan.

Researchers said the pace of green retrofitting of homes needs to leap from current levels of about 5000 a year to more than 100,000 to hit green targets.
