SIR Chris Hoy feared he would never be able to listen to music or laugh at a joke ever again after receiving his cancer diagnosis.
The six-time Olympic cycling gold medallist said he was floored by the unexpected news in September 2023.
However the 48-year-old dad-of-two from Edinburgh has managed to find hope, something he could not do six months ago.
Describing how he realised something was wrong, he told the RHLSTP podcast that he noticed a pain in his shoulder. He said: "I was used to pushing through pain in my cycling career, but what was different about it was it didn't go away.
"It got to the point where I couldn't actually lift my arm up, it was that sore.
"The physio suggested a scan which showed a tumour on my shoulder. This hit me like an absolute bombshell. I was completely floored by it." Tests found the cause was stage four prostate cancer and Chris said: "It was absolutely horrific, no two ways about it.
