AN OAP couple were left homeless after a car was deliberately driven into a Scots ice cream shop before being torched.
Officers said Cookiez N Creamz in Rutherglen, near Glasgow, was "significantly damaged" following the crash, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police and firefighters raced to the scene and evacuated nearby properties as a precaution.
There were no reports of injuries but the couple living in the flat above have been forced to seek new accommodation.
Shocking images show the smouldering aftermath on the street with the front face of the shop completely burnt away. The interior walls have melted to the ground while all equipment has been left destroyed.
Heaps of smoked rubble can be seen spilling from the inside of the unit and onto the road.
