STUART FINDLAY admits he can't top the joyous feeling he gets at Kilmarnock.

And the popular defender is now delighted to be finally repaying the unwavering belief of boss Derek McInnes.

Findlay is savouring his return, having come back to Ayrshire on a season-long deal from Oxford United.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a magnificent first spell at Rugby Park, earning a Scotland call-up while starring for then Killie gaffer Steve Clarke.

Findlay left for the MLS in America and then League One down south, only for McInnes to open a comeback door.

And the stopper reckons he is now approaching his old peak after taking time to get going.

He said: "I have a lot of appreciation for the gaffer.

"When Oxford made it apparent I could go out on loan, he was one of the first people on the phone to my agent, which I was obviously really happy to hear.

"He signed me when I probably wasn't in the best phase of my career.
