KAMALA Harris has taken a brutal swipe at Donald Trump as her campaign for the White House kicked into gear.
The US Vice President vowed to go after her rival in the same kind of way she operated as a prosecutor.
Harris said that when she was a lawyer in California she took on "predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain".
She added: "So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump's type, and in this campaign I will proudly put my record against his."
Harris, 59, says she has now gained the support needed to secure the Democratic Party's nomination for the US presidential election. She added she is ready "to unite our party, unite our nation and defeat Donald Trump".
Harris yesterday hit the road with a campaign stop in Wisconsin, a swing state that could be crucial in the election in November.
