KC to sue over ban for naming Salmond case complainers

ALEX Salmond's lawyer is taking his own legal body to court after they upheld complaints about naming the politician's accusers on a train.

Gordon Jackson is pursuing a judicial review after the Faculty of Advocates decided he should be suspended.

Salmond was acquitted at the High Court in 2020 of sexual offences charges including an allegation of attempted rape.

Footage later showed Jackson naming some of the female complainers on public transport despite strict rules on protecting anonymity.

He said of one accuser: "We thought that eventually people might think she's a flake and not like her.

All I need to do is put a smell on her." Jackson quit as dean of the faculty and the body's complaints committee ruled his behaviour had been "reprehensible".
