Lifting this trophy is the best moment of my life

BARRY BANNAN hailed the “best moment of my life” after leading Sheffield Wednesday back to the Championship with a playoff final win at Wembley.

Former Rangers forward Josh Windass’ dramatic goal in the final minute of extra time was enough to see off 10-man Barnsley.

The Hillsborough club looked down and out after the first leg of the semi-final as they trailed Peterborough 4-0.

But a stunning second-leg fightback led to a penalty shoot-out victory that teed up yesterday’s Wembley triumph.

And former Scotland ace Bannan said: “It’s the best moment of my life.

“You can see what it means to the fans and players. What this club has meant to me since I came here, they’ve been great to me and I’ve loved every minute.

“I always said I wanted to get them back to where they belong and we’ve done that.

“We deserved it. We had 96 points and missed out on automatic promotion but to go again shows the character of this squad.
