Long Covid pain has left me feeling suicidal

A FRONTLINE nurse tortured by long Covid is begging Scotland's First Minister to help sufferers after trying to take her own life.

Brenda Eadie was put in a mental health ward after family arrived just in time to stop her killing herself due to the anguish of long Covid.

Brenda, who caught Covid as she nursed prisoners, admitted: "I just didn't see the point in living any more."

Wracked with pain and struggling to pay her bills, she took steps to end her life and only a FaceTime call with her aunt saved her.

Now Brenda, 47, is pleading with John Swinney and Health Secretary Neil Gray to do more to help health workers who have been left with the condition.

She wants them to create long Covid clincs with specialist doctors to help the thousands of Scots struggling because of the virus.

Brenda claims staff like her have been cast aside as "collateral damage" in the fight against Covid and there is no specialist help for them.

Covid clinics have been set up across England but there is no Scottish equivalent.

She said: "I don't believe I am the only one sitting here suicidal because of the way we have been left. There are probably thousands of us. But very little of the millions given to Scotland to deal with long Covid was spent.
