McCoist bought hit and run car for son but had no involvement'

FOOTBALL legend Ally McCoist told a policeman he had "no involvement" with a car driven by his son in a crash, a court has heard.

Brian McNab investigated the hit-and-run in which Argyll McCoist, then 18, fled after running a man over.

The traffic cop told how checks revealed Ally was the car's registered owner and he paid a 30-minute visit to the former Rangers and Scotland striker's home.

PC McNab said: "He confirmed to me that he purchased the vehicle for his son. He thereafter gave it to his son and had no other involvement with it.

The officer was giving evidence at a second day of hearings where Ally and Argyll are being sued by insurer Aviva for £244,000.
