PHILLIP Schofield's TV career looked to be over last night as he was sacked by his agent for lying to them and ITV bosses about an affair with a young male colleague.

The presenter, 61, axed by This Morning last week, apologised for misleading them over a relationship with a runner on the daytime show which was more than a friendship. He called it "unwise but not illegal".

Schofield also abandoned his plans to host The British Soap Awards, meaning he has no future TV work lined up.

The affair took place while he was still married to his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Lowe, 59, the mother of his two daughters Molly, 28, and Ruby, 26.

He had insisted that it was only a friendship at the time, something he last night admitted was untrue.

ITV bosses were shocked by his statement and admission of his affair, channel insiders insisted last night.
