RICKIE'S MAJOR REVIVAL

POTENTIAL Leeds investor Rickie Fowler was last night marching on together with Xander Schauffele as the pair hit record-breaking rounds on day one of the US Open.

Fowler revealed this week he's looking to partner up with pals Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth as they make a surprise investment offer for the newly relegated Elland Road outfit.

But it was Schauffele who matched the 34-year-old stride for stride as they grabbed the early clubhouse lead on eight under at the LA Country Club.

Never before had the US Open seen a 62 posted, only for that historic feat to be achieved twice inside the space of 15 minutes, first by Fowler then Schauffele.

Until yesterday, Branden Grace was the only man to sign for a 62 in Major history with his 2017 Open effort at Birkdale.

For Fowler, it is a remarkable return to form having climbed his way back into the world's top 50 after his ranking sank as low as No.185 only last September.
