Cops arrest man, 35, after cyclist is killed in smash

A SCOT has been arrested after allegedly killing a cyclist in a hit-and-run on Spanish holiday isle Ibiza.

Bernat Ribas, 49, a well-known Ibizan sportsman who had taken part in many cycling competitions, died after the incident earlier this week.

Spanish police say the 35-year-old driver, who is understood to be from Glasgow, had no licence when he was arrested.

He handed himself in to police on the island on Wednesday night after his Jeep Wrangler was found abandoned about three miles from the scene of the incident. He is being held in custody ahead of a court appearance.
