Fergie recovering after breast cancer op

THE Duchess of York has had surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer, it has been revealed.

Fergie, 63, has spoken on a podcast about the routine mammogram which spotted the cancer early. After she left hospital yesterday her spokesman said "the prognosis is good."

As she returned home to recuperate she thanked the medical staff who had helped her, especially those who spotted the cancer.

The mother of two and grandmother of three said her case highlighted the importance of screening as she had shown no symptoms.

Her spokesman said: "Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram.

"She was advised she needed to undergo surgery, which has taken place successfully.

The operation was carried out at the King Edward VII hospital in London.
