JAMES MCGARRY reckons Aberdeen finally got the European victory that the players and fans deserved.
The Dons signed out of Europe with a moraleboosting win over Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of Sunday's Viaplay Cup Final against Rangers thanks to goals from Duk and Ester Sokler.
McGarry said: "It was important for us as a group but was massive for the fans as well.
"We've been unlucky in our European games but have been disappointed with the results. The supporters were amazing.
They are like a 12th man when they back us like that." The victory was no more than Aberdeen deserved.
They had lost two games in this group stage and both were by one goal to Eintracht and PAOK.
Three draws hadn't helped and put them out of qualifying contention after four games but at least they were now able to put a win on the board to claim a first group-stage win in 16 years to finish third in Group G.
McGarry added: "We've played against some top quality opposition, winning tonight and getting a point away to PAOK.
